Robert “Bob” Leroy Hodges, 87, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022 in Virginia Beach, VA. Bob was born in Des Moines, IA to the late Russell and Margaret Hodges. He is also predeceased by his wife, Shirley C. Hodges as well as his brothers, Gene, Michael, and Denny Hodges; sisters, Judy Mendenhall and Sherry Hodges. Bob retired from the US Navy as an Aircraft Maintenance Duty Officer with over 20 years of service. He received many achievements and service awards, including two from Vietnam. He was a pilot in the early years flying missions during the Cold War, with Russia. He served with the Blue Angels as a maintenance officer. He also served on the USS American during the Vietnam era. At Southern States he was the plant manager before his retirement. He also coached baseball for Arrowhead Recreation for many years as well as a previous member of Carrow Baptist Church. Bob is cherished in memory by his children, Rickie (Pam), Vickie (Larry), Robert, Jr. and Charles (Tammi); brothers, Russel, Jr., Ronald and Gary all of Iowa; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be from 6-8pm, Friday, January 14, 2022 at Woodlawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted the following day, 10am in the funeral home chapel. The funeral service will be livestreamed on Facebook. The family respectfully asks those in attendance to wear face masks.
