Romeo B. Dancel, 87, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022 in Virginia Beach to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Romeo was born in the Philippines to the late Juan and Rosalia Dancel. He was also predeceased by his son, Mac Damaso, his siblings, Arturo, Lolita and Linda. Romeo joined the US Navy in the Philippines in 1961. He later transferred to the United States, he served in the Vietnam War and served a dedication of 20 years of service to his country. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus as well. He loved cooking and was a master gardener. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is cherished in memory by his wife of 62 years, Cecilia Damaso Dancel; children, Romeo Dancel, Jr. and his wife, Norma, Reuben and his wife, Connie, Susan and her husband, Ross Younker, Gina Dancel and John “JJ” Dancel and his wife, Amanda; grandchildren, Racine, Jeremy, Jared, Jacqueline, Reuben, Jr., Jessica, Ruelle, Jaysen, Sully, and Brenden; great grandchildren, Kai, Tate, Parker and Kaiden; brother, Eduardo and his wife Leticia. There are also many other significant family members and friends of Romeo that will remain in their memories forever.
There will be a visitation from 4-8pm, Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Woodlawn Funeral Home in the chapel. A funeral service will be conducted at 3pm, Friday, August 12, 2022 in the Woodlawn Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
