Ruby N. Jackson

Ruby was born in Norfolk, Virginia, to Lucius and Florence Nelson on June 21, 1936. In 1955 she graduated Norview High School where she was active in the Nurse’s Club. She married Ned T Jackson Jr. on April 4, 1958 in Norfolk. Ruby and Ned were foster parents prior to Ned’s death in 1974. After raising her own children, Ruby worked for Kindercare in Virginia Beach for almost 30 years.

Ruby is survived by her children Robin Stubbs of Norfolk, Ned III of Chesapeake, John of Virginia Beach and Eric of Blue Springs, Missouri, siblings Robert Nelson and Myrna Nyreen of Virginia Beach, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Ned T Jackson Jr., father Lucius and mother Florence.

Funeral service will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502, on November 4 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Scott Beck of Wesley Memorial Church officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home on November 3 from 6-8 p.m. Condolences may be left at www.woodlawngroup.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Childhood Cancer Organization www.acco.org. Ruby spent her time on earth caring for others. May the love she shared be a beacon of hope to those she leaves behind.
