She was the wife of George Ward Mather, a retired U.S. Navy Master Chief, who preceded her in death. She is survived by three sons, Michael Mather and wife Elizabeth, of Norfolk; Dan Mather and wife Christine, of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and James Mather of Raleigh, N.C. She had six grandchildren.
From Waterbury, Conn., she married a sailor and moved to Virginia Beach where she worked as a real estate agent and later a property manager for William E. Wood and Associates real estate. For the past several years she lived near her middle son in Lawrenceville, Ga.
There will be a small graveside service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens on Nov. 20 at 11 a.m., where she will be buried next to her husband.
