Born in Durant, Oklahoma, he was the son of Edgar T. and Louise Y. Rinehart. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years before a 23 year career with the Civil Service at Naval Air Station, Norfolk.
Surviving are three sons, Richard Rinehart of Chesapeake, Va and his wife Joanna, Thomas Rinehart of Gates, NC and his wife Sue Ann, and Ronald Rinehart and his wife Kathy of Portsmouth; a stepdaughter Elois Rhodes and her husband Edward; four grandchildren: Lorry Spencer, Adriane Rinehart, Stephanie Sarquilla, Joe Rinehart; three step grandchildren: Troy Rhodes; Kent Rhodes; Matt Rhodes; and numerous great grandchildren. Gone before is one daughter, Corrine Evans.
A funeral will be held at 1:00p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011 in Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Gateway Freewill Baptist Church 5473 Virginia Beach Blvd. Virginia Beach, VA 23462-1743 (757)499-9686.
