

Vernon Phillip Christopher Westhouse, 90, passed away peacefully at his Virginia Beach home on August 23, 2015. Vernon was born on October 7, 1924 in Chicago, IL. After graduating from high school, Vernon spent three years serving with the United States Marine Corp during World War II. After serving with the military, he became the Director and Vice President of Transportation for Signal Delivery Service and worked for them for 43 years. Vernon was a very active member of his community. He was involved with the Green Run Home Owners Association and spent five years with the architect department. Vernon also was a Volunteer Docent for more than 750 hours with the USS Wisconsin and was an Honor Flight member in 2010. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Maryann; daughters, Chris Glasgow and Dawn Cowell; sons, Tom and Tim Westhouse; sister, Dorothy Allen; brothers, Art and Mickey Westhouse; grandchildren, Vanessa and Adora Rossi, Vernon Vollman , Eric Cowell, Amy Glascow and Tom Westhouse II and great-grandchildren, Jasmine Rossi and Ryan Davis, Jr. Vernon was predeceased by four sisters and five brothers. The visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27 from 5-7 PM with a funeral service to follow at 7 PM. The services will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home at 6329 E.
