Viole “Lil Pete” Delois White Brown was called home to glory early Thursday morning, July 11, 2019. She peacefully departed this world and entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she loved, praised, and worshipped daily.
Viole was born in Norfolk, Virginia on November 9, 1949 to the late James Pete and Mertha Lee White. She was educated in the Norfolk Public School System and graduated from Norview High School. Her employment included working for the Navy Exchange and as a daycare provider for many of the neighborhood children. She loved working with children and they adored her.
Viole was a living testament of God’s miraculous healing power and the epitome of a spiritual fighter. She was an active and dedicated member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church for over twenty years. Viole was licensed as an Evangelist on May 24, 2008 and served as a part of the Missionary and Evangelist Ministry, the 55 and over Ministry, and was a faithful Usher despite her health conditions. She always gave her best in everything she did. Viole was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and loved her family dearly. She learned how to cook from her husband, the master cook, Kenneth Brown. Her hobbies included a passion for bowling, traveling, especially with her sister Sandria, theatrical entertainment, and being involved with children and grandchildren’s activities. She loved people and always spoke words of encouragement even when she needed it more. Viole had a smile that illuminated the room. Her beautiful brown eyes spoke peace to those who looked upon them. She was the matriarch of the family and wholly leaned and depended on her personal Savior, Jesus Christ.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Kenneth Brown; her son, Steven Brown (Maria); her three daughters, Carmelite Brown, Angeline Brown, and Camille White; six grandchildren, Chenelle Brown, Tamara Dozier (Keaton), Adrianna Lilly, Jeremiah Brown, Jasmine Martin, and Amaya White; three great grandchildren, Jazel Brown, Jailah and August Dozier; and her two sisters, Sandria Hughes and Shelia White. She is preceded in death by her father and mother; her five brothers, Clarence White, Carey White, Clifton White, Harold White, and Bobby White; and her sister, Zadie Williams.
