William L. Estes

William Lloyd Estes went home to celebrate his heavenly birthday on January 4, 2014. He was born on July 20, 1931 to his late parents Eugene Ray Estes, Sr. and Lila Perryman Estes in Newnan, Georgia. He was also predeceased by his brothers Eugene Ray Estes, Jr. and Leon Estes. He is survived by his sister Frances E. Roughton; with a host of nieces and nephews. Leaving this earthly realm he leaves his beloved wife of 40 years Lucille. To have known and loved him, one was truly blessed by his humility, work ethic and devout faith in God. Thought stricken at a tender age of 2 ½ by Polio, it never crippled his determination. When others said “Nothing could be done”, his mother knew better. He attended Catholic School and one particular Nun saw the light of hope in him and the plan God intended for him to become. She taught him to speak and strengthen his muscles, to master the piano and accordion. He played beautifully. His forms of employment were limited but he did not falter. He was a man of integrity. Delivering papers, and working in a Landry mat, loading pennies by machine, and over the years he worked in numerous restaurants. Finally, he retired as a dishwasher at the Pancake House after 20 years at the age of 72. Although his body was challenged his spirit, his faith in God never faltered. To his family he was a loving man and the strongest example. His faith and Christian testimony was his life force. He lived the life as described by Christ and each step he took the same. Although ridiculed by his infirmities by post-Polio Syndrome, the light of Christ and strength was ever present. If you know him personally, your life was forever changed. As a final note your nephew, James Lloyd Estes, will never forget you. A Celebration of Life will be held 12:30 pm, Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Lighthouse Community Church in Norfolk.
