William "Sonny" Elbert Hufton, Jr.

William “Sonny” Elbert Hufton, Jr., 77, passed away in Virginia Beach on Thursday morning, March 21, 2024. Sonny was born and raised in Norfolk by the late William and Sadie Hufton. After graduation from Norview High School he enlisted in the US Army reserves. He was a Training Chief for the Civil Service as a firefighter. He was a highly respected and well like Training Chief for NOB for many years. Sonny was an outdoorsman, he loved playing sports. He coached and owned “Sonny’s” softball team and coached the Norfolk Neptunes semi-pro football team and was inducted to the Tidewater Softball Hall of Fame. He loved spending time with his family and friends, driving his pontoon boat, bowling, and golfing as well. He is cherished in memory by his loving wife of 57 years, Billie Joyce Hufton; sons, Scott and Kelly Hufton; three grandchildren, Robert, Mariah and Kelly, Jr. and a host of other significant family members and friends. There will be a visitation from 6-8pm, Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Woodlawn Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 12:30pm, Friday, March 29, 2024 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
