She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bryce in 2005; parents, Truman and Mary May Endicott; and six siblings of whom she was the youngest.
She leaves behind her son Larry McDade and wife Dana; daughter Carol McDade and husband Phil Conley; grandchildren, Kim McDade Torres of Norman and Jason Conley of Chatham, New Jersey, great-grandchildren Haydn McDade and Bryce Torres of Norman, Trent and Mallory Conley of Chatham, New Jersey; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rex and Bonnie Rudy of Tula; many nieces and nephews; and her special caregiver and friend, Mary Quails.
The following was written by her daughter:
My precious mother was born on July 29th, 1922 in Norman, Oklahoma in her parents' home at 803 E. Main. She was a lifelong resident of Norman and a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. Her parents came as children in the Oklahoma Land Run and settled in south Norman on 360 acres near the North Canadian River. She graduated from Norman High School in 1940. Mother and Daddy were married at First Baptist Church by Preacher Hallock in the original sanctuary. She worked for Norman Public Schools for most of her adult life until she retired in 1985. After her retirement she and her beloved husband traveled the world. Most of their trips were with the First Baptist Church Senior Adult group under the faithful and loving leadership of Vickie Riggs.
As a child, Mother loved to sing and dance and later when she married Daddy she used to sing with the Big Bands for which Daddy played. Our home was filled with music while Daddy played the piano or organ and we all sang and danced. After Daddy died the music stopped for Mother. She would never sing or be sung to again.
Mother loved to volunteer and help others. To her the most important thing she ever did was to visit shut-ins, those in hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living centers mostly as a representative of First Baptist Church. She also loved her Sunday School class, volunteering at the Family Life Center, her WMU group, her bridge group, her work with the Norman Historical Society and the Norman Business and Professional Women's group who gave her the honor of Women of the Year in 2005.
Mother was a feisty woman but had the biggest heart in the world. She leaves a legacy to her children and grandchildren of hard work, commitment to people and obligations, helping those in need, love of family and friends and especially love for our Lord, Jesus Christ.
My family and I would like to thank the staff at Rambling Oaks Courtyard, especially Isabell, Carmen, Rachel, MiMi, Sharmain, Jo and Stephanie for all their love and care. We would also like to thank Crossroads Hospice for keeping her comfortable and healthy for as long as possible. I would especially like to thank the hospice angels for their support to me in Mother's last days.
Services will be at 2:00 on Monday, October 20th at First Baptist Church in Norman with Reverend Jim Stewart and Vickie Riggs officiating. Interment will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Noble.
