

Betty Lou Bagley, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2024. She was born on October 18, 1938, in Norman to John L. Smith and Sarah Jane Smith. Betty attended Norman High School and later earned her associate degree from Wright's Business School. On December 23, 1958 at McFarlin Methodist Church, she married the love of her life, Dub Bagley, and together they shared 62 wonderful years before his passing on July 5, 2022.
Betty had a passion for life, with a love for the Boomer Sooner fight song and her favorite color, orange. Her perfect day consisted of gathering with family and friends over coffee, while cheering on OU football with plenty of snacks. She was known for her infectious laughter as she watched squirrels play and lovingly fed them in her yard.
Betty taught those around her the true meaning of kindness, sacrificial love, and how to be a compassionate listener. She will always be remembered for her boundless energy and the kindness she extended to others. Her deep love for her husband, parents, and family was evident in every aspect of her life.
Betty had a fondness for collecting turtle and frog figurines for her garden and took great joy in decorating for all the holidays. She was also proud of her professional accomplishments, including her 30 years of dedicated service as a cashier at Oklahoma Natural Gas Company, where she earned her 30-year service pin.
A longtime member of McFarlin Methodist Church in Norman, Betty was devoted to her faith and community. She is survived by her nieces, Debra Kay Hamilton, Joanie Cleaver, and Janey Cleaver; her nephews, Dennis Leehan, Preston Leehan, Chase Leehan and his spouse Christina Leehan, David Bagley and his spouse, Lydia Bagley, Fred Cleaver, Jim Cleaver, Jeff Cleaver, John Cleaver, Ethan Hamilton, Teles Fonseca, Conor Leehan, Aedan Leehan, Ayden Bagley, Aryn Bagley; sister, Katy Hamilton; her brother-in-law, David Bagley, and his spouse Ramona; along with many other beloved family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Sarah Smith, and her husband, Dub Bagley.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Primrose Funeral Service in Norman. A graveside service will take place on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Norman IOOF Cemetery. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at Betty’s home for coffee and dessert. The family would like to thank Betty’s caregivers, Paula Rodgers and Amanda Callaway for all their support and their loving care of Betty.
