

Betty Delores Coleman was born on January 3, 1929, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of R.D. and Myrtle (Maddon) Inmon. She grew up in Norman attending Norman Public Schools. Soon after school she began working as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and perused her passion for music by playing the organ at the Immanuel Baptist Church. She taught herself to play the piano at the age of 16, and later in life began teaching piano in her home. She was soon married to Doyle Coleman and they established their home in Norman in 1960. Betty soon moved to Regency Park Baptist Church and served beside Doyle as youth leader, along with playing the organ in the church. In the 1980’s she and Doyle were asked to help start Olivet Baptist Church and she soon began playing the organ and teaching Sunday school eventually retiring in 2002. She loved serving the Lord by playing the organ and piano in church. Her earthly passions were cooking, spending time with her family and enjoyed playing dominoes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Norma Jean Carson-Vaughn; and two brothers-in-law, Bob Carson, and Don Woodard.
She is survived by her husband, Doyle Coleman of Norman; her son, Lindle Coleman of Norman; her daughter, Donna McCutcheon and husband Will of Norman; four grandchildren, Liam and Molly McCutcheon, and Brayden and Calle Coleman; one sister, Phyllis Woodard-Knott and husband Bervin of Norman; two sisters-in-law, Margie Jones and Patsy Coleman; one brother-in-law, Doug Vaughn; and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
