Betty Jo Lamirand of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on July 22, 2016, in Norman, Oklahoma, at the age of 95 years.

Betty was born on October 11, 1920, in Blackwell, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of William and Minerva (Archer) Holt. Her mother passed away when Betty was five years old and she and her two brothers were raised by their grandparents in Weleetka, Oklahoma. She attended Weleetka Public Schools graduated from Weleetka, High School. Following her education at the age of seventeen she moved to Norman, Oklahoma. She met and married V.L. Lamirand Sr., and they made their home in Norman. She began working as a nurse’s aide and also owned and operated with her husband a home construction business in Norman. She was an avid reader, and gardener. She was a longtime member of the Westside Church of Christ. Her husband preceded her in death in 2002, and she continued to make Norman her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; two brothers, Junior and Howard; and one son, Jimmy Ray.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Wakely and husband Tom of Norman; one son, V.L. Lamirand Jr., of Norman; three granddaughters, Caity, Crystal, and Haley; two grandsons, Max and Zane; and two great granddaughters, Luna, and Rachel.

Memorial Services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Friday, July 29, 2016, at the Primrose Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow at 1:30 pm, in the Norman IOOF Cemetery.
