

family. Betty was born on March 6, 1939, in Norman, Oklahoma, to Samuel Green and Theda Catherine Goldsby Green. She was raised in Goldsby, Oklahoma, where she developed the strong values of
faith, family, and community that would guide her throughout her life. Betty was the oldest of six children, and shared a close bond with her siblings: Bill Green, Larry Green, Tunkin Anderson, Dianna Strassburg, and Butch Green.
She later attended the University of Oklahoma following high school. Betty devoted her life to her family as a homemaker,creating a home filled with love, warmth, and care. She was married to her beloved husband, Bill Rhynes, and together they built a life centered around their family.
Betty was a devoted mother to her children, Becky Rhynes, Cathy Chouteau, Sherry Goit, and Robert David Rhynes. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she poured herself into raising and supporting them.
She had a vibrant and joyful spirit, and her interests included singing, dancing, drawing, caring for birds, and watching OU football, whether it was Barry Switzer or Bob Stoops at the helm. She was deeply involved in her church and community, participating in church activities, ladies groups, and senior organizations. A faithful Baptist, Betty was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ and lived her life as a child of our almighty God, serving others with humility and love. She volunteered her time in schools, at church, and within her community.
She will be remembered for her love of family, her servant’s heart, her unwavering faith, and the joy she brought to those around her.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Cathy Chouteau and Sherry Goit; her grandchildren, Christy and Tim Thomas, Braden and Page Miller, Kelly and Jeremy Updyke, Britton and Mikael Miller, Jacob Goit and Desarea Richardson, Billy and Brittney Chouteau, and Justin Goit; her great grandchildren, Jeremy Hanger, Payton Thomas, Kinley Thomas, Allysa Slate, Devyn Updyke, Duttyn Updyke, Gattlin Lee, Kenny Davis, Shelby LaChappell, Liam Condit, Lyric Chouteau, Noah Chouteau, Videa Chouteau, Jaedan Goit, Jackson Goit, Reagan Goit, Izabella Goit, Kobe Miller, Kaelo Miller, Knox Wright, Campbell Wright, Baker Miller, and Harper Miller; her brothers, Bill Green and Larry Green; her sisters, Tunkin Anderson and Dianna Strassburg; along with extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Rhynes; her daughter, Becky Rhynes; her son, Robert David Rhynes; her granddaughters, Casey Chouteau, Jamie Goit, and Grace Miller; her brother, Butch Green; and her parents, Samuel and Theda Green.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Primrose Funeral Home, 3901 N. Flood Avenue, Norman, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at IOOF Cemetery in Norman.
