Catherine Marie Witten was born to Anna and Harvey Bohn on February 1,1950 in Harrisburg, PA. She graduated from Trinity High School in Pennsylvania in May 1967, moving with her family to Oklahoma in August.
Cathi met Ted Witten at OU and married her soulmate in May of 1970. She graduated from OU in 1971 with a BA in English/Library Science. Cathi worked at Central State Hospital Medical Library, leaving to stay home full-time after the birth of their first daughter, Anne. When her younger daughter, Beth, started school, she joined her and went back to work at Kennedy Elementary School, as the principal’s secretary. Later, she left the workforce and spent thirteen years assisting her ailing parents until their passing.
The Wittens spent much of their time volunteering for various ministries of their church. They worked regularly at the food pantry where she was an unloader and provided coloring books and crayons for the children who came. She used her secretarial skills for her Sunday school class, her women’s circle and for the United Women of Faith. Cathi enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and doing needlepoint, making and donating items for the prayer shawl ministry. Daily Ted and Cathi picked up day-old bagels, packaged them and dropped them off at the McFarlin food bank. Weekly, they gleaned produce from a local farm for donation at Food and Shelter for Friends. They also delivered poinsettias each year for Meals on Wheels and rang the bell for the Salvation Army.
Catherine is survived by Ted, her husband of 54 years; daughter Anne and husband Ryan Stubblefield; daughter Beth and husband Jason McCullough; nine grandchildren: Jason McCullough Jr, Brandon Geurin and wife Layla, Parker Geurin and wife Maddy, Paige McCullough and fiancé L.J., David McCullough, Hailey Shaffer, Lydia McCullough, Teddy McCullough, Clint McCullough; two great grandchildren: Creed Sankadota and Matthew Geurin; sister-in-law, Jan Newcomb; nephew Andy Choate; nephew Danny Choate and wife Sara; and niece Jennifer and husband Edgar Moya.
