Charles J. Cody

Charlie was born, September 30th, 1927 in Augusta, Kansas, to Warren E. “Bill” Cody and Viola (Osborn) Cody. They moved to Lyons, Kansas when Charlie was in the 2nd grade. Then that summer, they moved to Chase, Kansas, where they lived on the Mobil Station Property. While living there, they experienced their 1st tornado. It went directly overhead and damaged the property. He went to a country school that was a 1 room with 8 grades and was taught by 1 teacher. They moved to Valley Center when he was a sophomore.

While in high school, he purchased a milk cow for .25 cents. Supplying the family with plenty of milk. Whatever was leftover, he sold for spending money.

During high school he met the love of his life, Melba “Eileen” Frey.

After graduation in 1947 and going to work for Mobil on June 6th, 1947, Charlie and Eileen married on the 1st day of Spring, March 20, 1949.

He retired from Mobil on October 1st, 1987. From the start date to his retirement date, he worked in 5 different positions: Pipeliner, Station Engineer, Gauger, Heavy Equipment Operator and his last position was an Electrician, which was his favorite. He was not just an Electrician for Mobil, he also wired a few houses, for a side job in Healdton.

His hobbies were gardening, playing cards, dominoes, fishing and playing golf. What he really enjoyed was to attend or be a part of his Children’s and Grandchildren’s extra curricular activities. In his later years, when he was not able to attend the Great Grandchildren’s activities, he always wanted to see pictures, videos and hear their stories.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Everett, his wife Eileen, his daughter Zandra Mae, his sisters Wyvona Galliart and Marion Hoefgen and his grandson Justin Yandell.

He is survived by his sons; Neal Cody and his wife Jeanne of Moore, Ok., Rick Cody and his wife Teresa of Shawnee, Ok. and his daughter Cindy Yandell and her husband Gerald of Spring, Tx..

His Grandchildren, Brandon Yandell and his wife Kim of Cypress, Tx., Derek Cody and his fiancé Katherine of Edmond, Ok., Jared Cody of Jupiter, Fla., Megan Broderick and her husband Zack of Ada, Ok., and Ryan Yandell and his wife Sunisa “Wa” Phanaworakul of Los Angeles, Ca..

His Great Grandchildren, Everett, Kenley, Charlee, Camryn and Violet.
