Darry Wynn Duke was born in Gilmer, TX on 8 July 1961 to Wendell and Connie (Fannin) Duke. Darry lived with his wife Jamie in Choctaw, OK, they were married on 27 June 1987 for 32 years. Darry passed on 18 August 2019 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 58.
Darry graduated from Gilmer High School in 1979, where he was a proud member of the Gilmer Buckeye Football team. Soon after high school, Darry entered the Air Force where he served 21 years before retiring on 25 July 2001 as a Master Seargent. He was the first AWACS Radar Technician to become a dedicated crew chief while serving his country in Operation Dessert Storm. After retirement Darry continued serving the Air Force mission as a Contractor working to keep the AWACS fit to fly (Darry was also known as Mr. AWACS). He was a member of the Masons, loved hunting and fishing, and was a dedicated friend. He loved his family and children, creating strong bonds that will be remembered through the lives of those that knew him.
Darry is survived by his wife Jamie and his two children Brianne and Connor Duke, as well as Connor's wife Chelsi. He is also survived by his mother Connie Duke; sisters Cara Hammons and her husband Greg, Tanya Hooker and her husband Randy; and brother Tyler Duke and his wife Michele. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Colt and Dakota Bickerdike, Caleb Pettitt, Rylie, Grayson and Carly Hooker, and Nora Duke; his Aunt LaJuan and Elvis Allison and cousin Christy Tucker; inlaws Don Postman, Francine Postman, Donnie Postman, and Craig and Jeanette Postman; along with a wealth of other extended family and friends.
Darry is preceded in death by his Father Wendell Duke, Great-Grandmother Connie Wilson (who was his Mimmie), Grandmothers Tandie Fannin Young (who he called Nana) and Izora Duke (better known as Mama Duke), Grandfather Floyd Fannin (who was Papaw), cousin Jamie MacAllister, and two friends he loved like brothers; Michael (Stuff) Stufflebeam and Audy Ingle.
Darry always put family, God and country first. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
