Mrs. Vance was born on September 24th, 1928 in Anthony, Kansas to Ray C. and Ferne (Heacock) Broce. Dee possessed an astonishing selflessness - a propensity to love first, to love deeply. She, with beautiful ease, saw grace in everyone. With her selflessness, came generosity, and an inspiring resolve to do good. She was an active volunteer in many organizations. At First Baptist, she was a Deacon, considered her Sunday school group close friends, and taught English for over 15 years with Friends International. She was a proud member of PEO and a board member at the Red Cross in Norman. Her favorite hobbies included creating stained glass and delicate needlework. She was an avid OU fan and a killer Mah-Jong player.
Dee was truly the rock of the Vances. You could always see, in the details of an event, just how much love she poured into people. Dee was deeply loved and looked up to by all of her family for her caring nature, strong spirit, and the ease with which, even when things got rough, she would chuckle, grin, tilt back her head with her beautiful wide smile, and laugh.
Mrs. Vance is survived by her husband, A.A. “Bud” Vance Jr.; two sons, Steve Vance and Alan and his wife Julie Vance; one daughter, Teri and her husband Mike Hubbeling; eight grandchildren, Austin Vance, Ethan Vance, Harper Hubbeling, Tess Hubbeling, Jessi Vance, Luke Vance, Peter Vance and Nathaniel Vance. She is also survived by a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Marvin Broce.
The family requests donations made in lieu of flowers to either the Dee Vance Angel Tree Memorial Fund or the Dee Vance Lung Cancer Research Memorial Fund. Checks can be made payable to Teri Hubbeling at 2002 Morning Dew Tr. Norman, OK 73072.
