Elizabeth Betty Anna Milligan

Betty was born to Catherine (Kuestersteffen) and Joseph Green on August 30, 1942, in Konawa, Oklahoma. She graduated from Konawa High School and after earning her bachelor’s degree at St. Anthony’s Nursing School, Betty began her career as a registered nurse. She worked as a health administrator for the Department of Corrections for 24 years until she retired in 2003. Betty married Joe Milligan on August 7, 1965, in Oklahoma City, and together they lovingly raised three children, Stephanie, Michael, and Melanie. Betty’s family was her first priority, and her five granddaughters were her pride and joy. Baking cookies with her granddaughters was a Christmas tradition that created many cherished memories. She loved gathering the family for delicious meals, and her famous French toast was a family favorite. Betty and Joe enjoyed vacationing in Santa Fe, where they could be pampered as they relaxed by the fire. As a breast cancer survivor, Betty had a resilient spirit that carried her through difficult times. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Catherine and Joseph Green, and her brother, Christopher Green.

Betty is survived by her husband, Joe; children, Stephanie Lowery and husband Stephen, Dr. Michael Milligan and wife Kristi, and daughter Melanie Milligan and husband Joseph Harrell, all of Norman; granddaughters, Hilary Lowery, Hannah Lowery, Kaitlin Milligan, Maci Milligan, and Lillie Harrell, all of Norman; brother, Maurice Green and wife Linda of Shawnee; and sister Dorothy Edgemon of Warrenton, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mark’s the Evangelist Catholic Church, with Father Robert Wood officiating. Inurnment will follow at Konawa Sacred Heart Cemetery.
