

Elton married his wife of 70 years, Peggy Joyce Menefee, of Austin, Texas on October 7th, 1950 at the First Christian Church in Norman. He would often say, “I rescued her from Texas and brought her home to Oklahoma”.
He served his country in the United States Army during WWII. After the war, he attended and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Journalism. He worked at the University as the Director of Financial Aid and retired in 1987 after 23 years employment.
Elton was a dedicated OU sports fan, he rarely missed attending any Football, Basketball, or Baseball games. He also was a letterman in Baseball and Basketball while attending college.
Elton enjoyed refereeing and umpiring high school Football, Basketball and Baseball games, and traveled the state to referee games.
He is survived by his wife Peggy, daughter Robin of Norman, daughter Melody Blumenthal and her husband David of Edmond, and son Elton of Norman.
Grandchildren include: Nick Davis and his wife Sara, their children Daisy and Rain of Norman. Chad Davis of Wellston, OK. Lauren, Joel, Kylee and Eli Blumenthal of Edmond.
