Gayland moved to Anadarko, Oklahoma at the age of nine and had fond memories with his 9 brothers and sisters, and many friends and relatives. He went to college to study Diesel Engineering and met his only love, Sandra Main; they married in 1968. Gayland and Sandra had three daughters: Gayleena, Valita, and Valerie, and made a life in Norman Oklahoma. Gayland and Sandra were foster parents to many children over the years and loved them all as their own.
He worked alongside his sister and brother in the swimming pool industry for over fifty years. Gayland was called to ministry in 1989 and became the pastor of Faith Abundant Worship Center in 1991. Gayland ministered to everyone through hard work, helping hands, and teaching about the love of Jesus.
Gayland was survived by his wife Sandra of the home, his daughter Gayleena Hinch and husband David of Austin, Texas, daughter Valita Cannon of Norman, Oklahoma, granddaughter Haley Hinch of Austin, Texas, grandsons Ryan Harvey of Noble, Oklahoma and Calin Harvey of Norman, Oklahoma, sisters Melba Hacker, Alta Zane Farris, and brother Nuby Cannon.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, six brothers and sisters, and his infant daughter, Valerie.
There will be a celebration to honor Pastor Cannon on Friday February 7th at 2pm at Faith Abundant Worship Center.
