Glenn M. Woods

Our dear husband, father and “Papa” left us on Thursday, December 3, 2015 following a brief illness. Glenn was 86 years old at the time of his death. Glenn was born January 1, 1929 in New Orleans, LA-his parent’s were Daniel R. and Viola (LaCort) Woods.

At the age of 17, Glenn enlisted in the US Army and began a successful career in the military that lasted 21 years. While on tour in Germany, he met the love of his life, Marianne Hirsch and they were married on December 30, 1955. Glenn and Marianne spent their military life raising 4 children and traveling between Europe with stays in Ohio, Virginia, Texas and finally retiring in El Paso, TX in 1965. Glenn began his second career with the US Postal Service and would celebrate his second retirement at age 58.

Glenn and Marianne enjoyed many years together following his retirement, traveling in their RV and settled in Destin, Fl. They had wonderful times going on cruises, traveling to Glenn’s beloved Germany and spending time with good friends made in Florida. They decided to move from Destin and become “Okies” in 2013.

Glenn and Marianne were devoted to each other with a love rarely seen over 60 years of an incredibly happy marriage. He was a wonderful father and we will all greatly miss him. He leaves behind his wife, Marianne of the home, Sons-Patrick Woods (Patricia) of El Paso, Tx., Kevin Woods (Sandra) of El Paso, Tx and Daughter-Cindy Plowman (Charles) of Norman, Ok. Grandchildren-Melissa Lawall (Pete) of El Paso, Tx, Patrick Woods Jr (Paige) of Houston, Tx, Kevin Woods (Stacy) of Austin, Tx, Aimee Plowman of Norman, Ok and Michael Woods of El Paso, Tx. Great-Grandchildren-Rowan and Piper Lawall of El Paso, Tx.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Brother-Dan Martin and Son-Michael Woods. Family Services wil be at Ft. Bliss Cemetary in El Paso, Tx with military honors.
