Rick was born on August 10, 1954, to Betty Lou Collins (Wood). From an early age, he carried the warmth, humor, and generous spirit that would define his life. He had a way of making others feel welcome, valued, and loved.
On August 20, 1982, he married the love of his life, Cindy. Together they built a beautiful life and lovingly raised their blended family. Rick embraced Cindy’s children and grandchildren as his own, pouring his whole heart into being a devoted husband, dad, Papa, and Pop. Rick and Cindy truly lived life to the fullest — working hard, laughing often, and cherishing every adventure they shared.
Rick dedicated 29 years of service to Tinker Air Force Base as a Logistics Planner. He took pride in his work and the friendships he built along the way. Even after retirement, he never slowed down. He joined Cindy in real estate, faithfully supporting her business while staying active in the many passions that filled his days. Playfully, Cindy often referred to his ever-changing interests as “Rick’s Hobby of the Month Club.” He loved sailing, golfing, bike riding, playing guitar, and photography — but more than anything, he loved sharing those hobbies with his family.
His greatest joy in life was his family. His children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter brought him immeasurable pride and happiness. Papa/Pop was always ready to play outside, teach something new, fix what was broken, or simply sit and enjoy time together. Babies and children were naturally drawn to Rick’s gentle, playful spirit. He delighted in every laugh, every hug, and every moment spent with his grandkids, nieces, nephews, and the many children and grandchildren of friends who were blessed to know him.
Most recently, Rick found great joy in welcoming German exchange student Eileen Schulze into their home, embracing her as part of the family and creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Rick will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His kindness, steady presence, laughter, and deep love for his family leave a legacy that will live on in the many lives he touched.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Cindy Wood; his daughters, Riki Oldham and husband David Oldham, and Melissa Cagle; his cherished grandchildren, Alyson and Andrew Oldham, Brandi Ragsdale and Steven Fisher; and his precious great-granddaughter, Devin Hewitt. He is also survived by his brother, Buddy Kellem and wife Nancy; his brothers-in-law, Brent and Connie Clark, Michael and Tina Clark, Pat Clark, and Scott and Diana Clark; his cousin and dear friend Cliff and Linda Harrison; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Lou Collins; his father, Jim Gaddis; his Grandmother, Hazel Wood (Nanny); and his mother-in-law, Ardena Clark.
Though our hearts are heavy, we are deeply grateful for the years we were blessed to share with him. His love lives on in each of us.
