Jennifer LeAnn Sorensen left her earthly struggle behind and walked into the open arms of Jesus on July 7th, 2024. Services are entrusted to Primrose Funeral Service in Norman. A celebration of Jennifer’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 12th, at Southern Hills Baptist Church, 8601 S. Pennsylvania in South OKC. Public visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Primrose Funeral Service.
Born on February 12, 1975 in Oklahoma City, Jennifer was raised in Moore, OK, and graduated from Moore High School in 1993. She moved to Springfield, MO, to attend Baptist Bible College, where she earned an associate degree in accounting. It was at BBC that she met the love of her life, Sean Sorensen. They became engaged during sophomore year and married on June 15, 1996. Their union was blessed with three children: Rylan Aaron in 1998, Olivia Laine in 2001, and Camden Reid in 2005.
Jennifer and Sean dedicated two decades to youth ministry. Their journey took them from Springfield, MO, to Georgetown, TX (1997-2000), Hollywood, FL (2000-2003), Wichita, KS (2003-2010), and Oklahoma City, OK (2010-2017). Jennifer was an active participant in the ministry, leading many girls' Bible studies and mentoring countless young women. She was the backbone of their ministry, providing unwavering support and endless prayer.
Jennifer was a joyful woman, carrying herself with dignity and grace. A dedicated follower of Jesus Christ, she embodied the essence of a faithful Christian. Jennifer knew the Lord intimately and spent the first hours of each day in His word and prayer. As a fierce prayer warrior, she was a go-to confidant for friends, family, and even strangers in need of spiritual support.
Jennifer's greatest accomplishment was raising her three children to love the Lord. She cherished every moment with them, from snow cone outings to Christmas decorations and supporting their activities. A member of City Church in Moore, she treasured the relationships she built there.
In 2005, Jennifer was diagnosed with MS. Despite the worsening symptoms, she refused to let the disease define her. She lived each day to the fullest and rejected any notion of victimhood. Her diagnosis only strengthened her bond with Sean, and she was blessed with the support of her children, mother Susie, and sister, Kim. Jennifer enjoyed music, watching The Food Network & "The Office," and cheering for the Thunder and Sooners.
Jennifer Sorensen was a loving wife, a proud mother, a caring daughter, a great sister, and a devoted follower of Jesus. She left an indelible mark on thousands of young lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Preceded in death by her grandmother Juanita Weston.
