JT and Merla I am so sorry to hear of your loss.  What a delight it was to know all of your when we were in Norman.

Not many people get a chance to affect people lives. JJ had a talent that was far above. His musical ability allowed him to be one of the few people to inspire or change lives. JJ will be greatly miss and I am very grateful for the time I got to have getting to know him and hearing his talents. I give my condolences to Mr.and Mrs. Tabor and your family and I am deeply sorry for your loss. Please know that JJ was greatly loved by so many

J.J you were my role model and gave me the confidence to become a pianist. You were so talent and exceeded at everything you did. You were so loving and a unique person who always smiled. You will always be in my heart and my motivation to continue in life. I love you J.J and I will miss you.

I cannot verbalize the sorrow I feel at hearing of JJ's passing.  He was a brilliant violinist and a truly gifted musician.  He touched so many people with his music and his wonderful personality.  My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

 I am writing you to apologize for my absence at JJ's wake and funeral.  In addition, I wish to express my condolences to you and the rest of your family for the tragic lost that you experienced.  I can to an extent understand the pain that you are going through because of this loss. 
 JJ was a great friend.  He always had a smile and did his best to keep my spirits uplifted when I was feeling down and in turn I did the best for him when he was sad.  I remember the first time I met JJ in English class in the 6th grade in Mr. Dissinger's Geography class and all the other wonderful memories that we had as time progressed.  I also remember the first time I heard JJ play his violin and just being in disbelief at how truly talented he was.  I remember all the good and the bad times.  I remember all the fun and arguments.
 In all, I am trying to say that JJ is someone who I will never forget.  He has had a huge impact on my life and with him I was able to grow up and become who I am today.  Everything that I have been able to achieve or accomplish in high school was thanks to the support of my family as well as my strong bond with my friends and I am proud to say that JJ was part of that close knit group. 
 JJ was my friend, my support, but most importantly HE IS MY BROTHER.  I love him very much and the pain that I feel is immense, but I will do my best to keep moving forward and living a life that he would be proud of.

As we go through the course of our lives, we Endeavour to leave a mark and not a stain, we strive and toil to make that Dash of our lives have meaning, we want to make a difference.  The Dash in his life will leave a legacy to be remembered and affected by generations to come.  I came to EHS in July 2005 as the newly hired Senior Army Instructor for the JROTC Eagle Battalion.  After the completion of my first year at EHS, I eagerly awaited the arrival of the incoming freshman class…frankly, I did not know what to expect.  A funny thing happened when I arrived to the school, for drill team tryouts, I meet the new cadets, however; during my observations, and I saw a young lad who caught my eye.  That young lad had a certain conviction, purpose and extreme focused about him…he wanted to make the drill team and one day becoming the battalion commander.  That young lad I had the pleasure of meeting during the summer of 2006, was JJ Tabor.  As I read through all of the postings, they were 100% accurate, it seems like yesterday, I would see JJ practicing his facing movements, working on his command voice, preparing for a drill meet.  On the drill field, I fondly remember him barking out commands to his squad and fellow cadets with conviction and yet compassion.  Often times we speak words of comfort of our deceased loved ones and friends which are simply not an accurate reflection of that individual.  That was not the case with JJ Tabor.  I think of the instructions Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ gave Peter.  Three times Jesus asked Peter, “Do you love Me?” Peter answered, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” Each time, Jesus answered, “Feed My sheep.”  That is exactly what JJ did during his illustrious (but far too brief) life as a cadet, soldier, accomplished musician, devoted friend and beloved son.  JJ was a true friend, he was a friend to many, and he left an indelible make on all who came around him.  He feed the sheep of Christ (the youth).  All of the youth of today want to know is if you love them and if the answer was yes…as it was with JJ Tabor, than they will drive across the country to pay their respects to you, as I read one of his young friends has done. In JROTC where JJ was a highly decorated cadet, our mission is to Motivate young people to become better citizens, which includes coming to school, willing to learn, making the grades and being g respectful and considerate of others. JJ embraced every maxim of that mission and carried it to another level.  At Eisenhower High School, our motto is Intelligence, Knowledge and Excellence (IKE); JJ embodied all of those qualities.  JJ fed the Cadets, staff and faculty the concept that Together we could, did and continues to make a difference at Eisenhower High School. I was proud to serve with an OUTSTANDING Scholar, Leader, and Soldier and individual like the late Jerel-James Tabor.  I feel even more blessed, as last month JJ came by the school to visit the faculty her at EHS and it was as if he had never left, we had a wonderful conversation, it is as if the Lord wanted us to share our good-byes, I will JJ Tabor, the world is poorer without him….he had a wealth of talent, compassion, passion and vitality.  Mr and Mrs Tabor, I always enjoyed your visits our awards days, promotion ceremonies and parent teacher conferences, and just your visits.  If there is anything we can do, please give us a call.  May God continue to Bless you and keep you through these trying times…St John 14:2-3  In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. We are so saddened of the loss of JJ. He and Melissa played together and it was wonderful seeing them perform and you could see how much they loved music. You as his parents can be proud of what a wonderful young man he turned out to be. May the Lord give you peace and comfort in this difficult time.

JJ, we haven't kept in touch since you graduated, but I thought about you time to time. When I heard about the accident, no words came out of my mouth. Even though we didn't hang out much, my memories with you in orchestra classes and at others will be remembered. I am deeply saddened to hear of your loss. I have many memories from high school of having classes with JJ and playing together in the orchestra. I was always impressed by JJ's outstanding musical talent, and he shared his talents by often leading our orchestra with a determined and uplifting attitude. You can tell a lot about a person by the impression they leave on others, and I know all of our classmates would agree that JJ was a person of such good character and good humor, someone who always wore a smile and could lighten the mood, and ultimately the kind of person that any parent would be proud to call their son. Your son left a positive influence on me and many of his peers, and for that, we are all thankful. God bless you and your family. You are in my prayers.

JJ, I am saddened you were taken away from us so soon. You always made me laugh and smile in JROTC and orchestra. I wanted to thank you for all the great times we had together in and out of class. Although we went our separate ways after graduation, I still spoke so highly of you to my friends and family. I'm going to miss your silliness, your bright smile, your positive attitude, your musical talent, our geeky times on XBOX, and most importantly, just you. I'm sorry I never made it out to Norman, JJ. We were supposed to hang out like old times... I drove halfway across the country for you JJ... I can't believe I have to say goodbye... Your parents love you JJ. A lot of people admired you, I know I did and always will. Please watch over us and ask God to ease the pain of all your friends and family. Watch over your mom, JJ. She misses you so dearly. I will always remember you, my friend.

I don't know where to begin...it seems just like yesterday when I met JJ in my freshman orchestra class. He was such an inspiration to me, he influenced me in many ways. He influenced my violin practice and playing habits greatly.He, however, was so much more than that to me, he was an amazing man and most importantly, above all, an amazing Friend. He had such great character. He made every day brighter with his smile and humor. I know he was loved by everyone who knew him, especially his friends.My prayers are with you in this hard time.
