Born on September 16, 1928 in Box, Oklahoma, Kenneth grew up in the rural area of central Oklahoma, attending Crossroads Elementary and graduating from Wanette High School. After graduation, he worked at the Lexington Annex of Central State Hospital. While working at the Annex, Kenneth began dating Wanda Turnpaugh, a high school classmate and co-worker. They were married on April 12, 1948; it was a love story lasting 67 years. Kenneth served in the Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Okinawa. His service time created life-long friendships with the Frank and Horne families. Upon his discharge, he began a career as an airplane mechanic at Tinker Air Force Base and worked with his father, raising cattle on the family farm. While settled in Oklahoma City, Kenneth & Wanda welcomed two daughters, Yvonne and Vickie. In 1963, the family relocated to Noble, Oklahoma to a home designed and built by Kenneth. After his retirement in 1985, he concentrated on his farm, cattle, traveling and playing dominos. Kenneth was an avid domino player, winning local tournaments and the Worlds Largest Tournament held in Big Springs Texas with partners Jesse Malicoat and later Harold Treat. Kenneth also enjoyed traveling and enjoyed many trips with Ruth and Jesse Malicoat and Gerald and Mary Kersey. In 1986, he was blessed with his granddaughter, Kendra who immediately wrapped Kenneth around her little finger. After a family of women, Kenneth was no longer outnumbered with the addition of son-in-law Bill Clay, grandson in-law John McCurley, great-grandson Jackson, and another great-grandson Lucas due on Kenneth’s birthday next month.
