Loa Marie Bastible, born on May 1, 1941, in Alpine, Idaho, peacefully passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion. Loa's journey began in the picturesque town of Alpine, where she was born to Gilfred W. Smart and Noma F. Sanderson. She spent her formative years in Idaho, graduating from Idaho Falls High School before embarking on a life filled with joy, love, and service.
In 1964, Loa made Oklahoma her home after marrying her beloved husband, Jesse Franklin Bastible. Their union was a testament to enduring love, spanning 42 cherished years until Jesse's passing in 2006. Throughout their life together, they shared countless memories and built a family grounded in love and unity. Loa's vibrant spirit was evident in her love for country music, which she enjoyed listening to, even embracing her grandkids' music preferences. Pink was her favorite color, reflecting her gentle and nurturing nature.
Her perfect day was spent tending to her and Jess's garden, immersed in the beauty of nature, and losing herself in the pages of a good book. During her early years, Loa found joy and camaraderie in a bowling league, where she shared laughter and created lasting friendships. Her infectious laughter echoed through the years, especially when her grandchildren regaled her with their silly jokes and playful antics.
As a nurse for over 40 years, Loa dedicated her life to caring for others, embodying empathy and selflessness in every interaction. Her unwavering commitment to serving her community touched countless lives and left an indelible mark on those she cared for. Loa's faith was an integral part of her life, as she found solace and community at the First Baptist Church of Del City. Her devotion to her faith guided her actions and inspired those around her. Above all, Loa will be remembered for her boundless love for her family. She found joy in watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow and flourish, cherishing every moment spent together.
Loa is preceded in death by; husband, Jesse, children, Becky Rose, Larry Bastible, and Diana Bastible, as well as her parents, Gilfred and Noma Smart.
Loa is survived by; children Jimmy Bastible (Michelle) of Stonewall, OK, Stayce Rose (Sandra) of Katy, TX, Lori Owens (David) of Norman, OK, brothers, Roger Smart (Dorthy) of Idaho Falls, ID, Gil Smart of Tremonton, UT, sister Debbie Kovach (Fred) of Idaho Falls, ID, as well as 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Loa’s legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she may be gone, her spirit will forever remain a guiding light, reminding us to embrace each day with understanding, love, and gratitude.
A visitation for Loa will be held Monday, May 6, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Service.
