Richard “Rick” Wade was born in Norman on August 26th, 1954 to Beulah and Grady Wade. From a young age Rick was very active with an abundance of energy used for both fun and mischief. Rick grew up in the outdoors, spending much of his time on the banks of the south Canadian river. That connection to the outdoors would mature into a life long love of hiking, camping, fishing, and a good fire. When he was old enough to use hand tools, Rick started working for his father as an electrical apprentice in the family business. Later in school, Rick developed a love for music, going on to become drum major of the Norman High marching band. Not long after, fate took Rick on a path to find the one true love of his life, Kimberly Schatz. They met on a blind date and were immediately inseparable. Rick and Kim married on July 7, 1973 in Stillwater, then settled down in a small house on Porter Ave. in Norman. Rick and Kim had two boys, Corey and Brett, and would spend the following twenty some years running between Boy Scouts, sports, graduations, and everywhere else their boys needed them. Soon after and over a span of nine years, Rick and Kim welcomed six grandchildren Ethan, Kaylen, Eli, Ashlen, Evan, and Aydan into the family. Rick and Kim also put a tremendous amount of time and energy into what would become their own family business, Wade Electric. Rick was an incredibly hard worker with a generous soul. His work ethic was surpassed only by his love for his family. He was and will always be the best husband and father any family could wish for. Rick made an immeasurable impact on this world, this community, and absolutely on his family. He will forever be in our thoughts and in our hearts.
He was preceded in death by his father, Grady Wade; and one sister, Valerie.
He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Wade of the Home; two sons, Corey Wade and wife Rachel of Norman, and Brett Wade and wife Jamie of Norman; six grandchildren Ethan, Kaylen, Eli, Ashlen, Evan, and Aydan; one brother, Gary Wade of Norman; and two sisters, Diane Hope of Noble, and Sherry Allen of Norman.
