A celebration of life for Terri Melka will be held at Goodrich Memorial United Methodist Church, 200 W. Hayes St., Norman, OK, on Saturday, December 12, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Enid's Memorial Park Mausoleum at 2:00 p.m.
She was born October 18, 1953, in Enid to Don and Marilyn Melka of Medford and died December 5th at her home in Norman. She was born with cerebral palsy and at the age of nine, she began a residency at the Enid State School where she could receive more help with her physical problems. In 1986 she moved to ABLE group home in Norman which became a loving home for the rest of her life. One of the most enjoyable times of her life were the 22 years that she worked in the offices of Moore-Norman Votech.
Other activities that she was involved in were Special Olympics, bowling, and summer camps. She enjoyed cruises and trips, especially to her favorite place, Disneyland.
Surviving are her mother, Marilyn Melka; a sister-in-law Michelle Nightingale and husband Branden; three nieces: Lauren Melka Nightingale, Abbey Melka Nightingale, and Samantha Nightingale; and one nephew Isaiah Nightingale; cousins Randy Lester, Russ Lester, and Sydney Mosburg and husband Rus and family, and good friends, Denise Rudd and John Mennig.
Preceding her in death were her father Don and two brothers, Ron and Darin, and her grandparents.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Special Olympics of Oklahoma.
It is asked that masks be worn during the service.
