

Wm. F. Fred Scott, 102, went to heaven to be with his Lord , Saturday, February 1, 2014. He was born in Franklin OK where he married his childhood sweetheart, Lula Marble Scott, and there they reared three children. He was preceded in death Lula and his only son, Delbert W. Scott.
After moving to Norman, he was employed by the University of Oklahoma upon retiring he moved to Madill, OK, where he served as County Tax Assessor for Marshall County. When he returned to Norman, he took up his first love, gardening. Many Norman residents enjoyed the fruits of his labor. He was featured on KFOR Channel 4 "Is it a Great State or What,” and several publications. His gardening, mowing, driving and living independently continued until he was 101 years old, and suffered a broken hip.
Fred was a member of Alameda Baptist Church where he served as deacon and teacher of the adult men. He held these positions for over 70 years. He was a Bible scholar, and loved to tell others about Jesus.
He is survived by two loving daughters, Mary Sue (Bryan) of Huntington, WV and Carrie (Howard) Black of Glenpool, OK. He loved being called PaPaw by four grandchildren, Bryan Scott (Belinda), David Kirk (Kimmie Jo), Suzanne (Pat) McGuire, and. Amy (Mike) Mainprize and Big PaPaw to Andrew Sowards, Cale and Kacie Mainprize.
Also surviving are three generations of nieces and nephews as well as cousins. The family wishes to thank all of those who were faithful to visit and help in so many ways, especially a nephew, Junior Marble, great nephew, Kevin Marble and longtime caregiver and domino partner, Roland Bourdeau.
The family has suggested the Alameda Baptist Church, 1503 E. Alameda, Norman, 73071, (405) 329-5157, as appropriate for memorial contributions.
Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, February 7 at the Alameda Baptist Church with burial at Blackburn Cemetery. Viewing will be 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Friday at the church.
Services for Mr. Scott have been entrusted to the care of Primrose Funeral Service.
