

William Dale Smallwood, 89, passed into his Lord’s arms Thursday, April 14, 2016 in Norman, Oklahoma. He was born January 11, 1927 to Julius Bracken Smallwood and Julia Mae (Hatley) Smallwood in Stuart, Oklahoma.
Dale served in the navy during World War II. On July 30, 1948 he married Wanda Marie Eads. After leaving the Navy he worked at Tinker Air Force base, retiring as a Maintenance Mechanic Foreman in the Test Cell in 1982. At that time he started his own company, Dale’s Tractor Service, through which he enjoyed mowing and doing tractor work for more than 20 years. He was also a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Moore.
He is survived by his three sons and one daughter, Charles Ray Smallwood and wife Barbara of Norman; Shirley Thompson and husband Mike of Norman; Glenn Smallwood and wife Danelia of Norman; and Tommy Smallwood and Lynda Goode of Moore; his grandchildren, Chris Gay and Pam Caldwell; Jodi Bain and husband Justin; Tracy Lancaster and husband Davin; Zac Thompson; Chuck Smallwood and wife Luisa; Matthew Smallwood and wife Kasey; Amy Smallwood; Chase Smallwood; and Josh Smallwood; and his great-grandchildren, Braden, Luke, Natalie, Topher, Miles, Gibson, Ellie, Elodie, Issac and one great granddaughter on the way. Two sister-in-law’s Bobbie Smallwood and Kittie Eads, and many other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Wanda Marie Smallwood, a great-grandchild Noah Thomas Smallwood, his parents Julius Bracken Smallwood and Julia Mae Hatley Smallwood, and all of his siblings; four brothers- Orel (Bozo), Harlous (Hap), Furman (Peewee), and Doyle; eight sisters- Mamie, Thelma, Inez, Anita, Ora Marie, Selma, LaVera and Wandaleen.
Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Moore, 301 NE 27th St. Moore, Oklahoma at 1:00pm on Tuesday, April 19, 2016.
