

Stanley farmed until 1980 at Handel and then him and his wife moved to Battleford, SK where he presided until his passing. He was a municipal councilor for 10 years, he was very involved with 4-H, a member of the Biggar School Board for 10 years and an alderman in Battleford for 4 years. He was very involved with the Fred Light Museum and spent many years on the St. Vital Church Board. He and Katherine traveled extensively over the years and spent summers at Aquadeo. One of his passions was golfing.
Stanley was predeceased by his father, Frederick; mother, Annie; son, Douglas; step-mother, Annie; and grandsons Boyd and Laurie. He is fondly remembered by his loving wife of 67 years of marriage, Katherine; daughters, Joan (Wilbert) Basler, Marie (Jim) Schommer, Shirley (Ralph) Schommer, and Louise (Mel) Leonard; son, Fred (Lynn) Graver; many grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great grandchildren; step-sisters, Eve and Amy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Prayers was held on Thursday March 3 from St. Vital Roman Catholic Church, Battleford. Funeral Mass was held on Friday, March 4, also from St. Vital Roman Catholic Church, Battleford with Reverend Father Greg Elder as celebrant. Interment took place at the Handel Cemetery on Friday, March 4. Memorial donations in Stanley’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Masses.
