Christine Smith Infinger

Relatives and friends of Christine Infinger are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 12 Noon, Monday, March 2, 2026, at the graveside, Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406. Memorials can be made to Pet Helpers at www.pethelpers.org.

Christine devoted much of her life to caring for others, first through her many years as a nurse – working in cancer wards, trauma centers, and nursing homes during her career – and always through her spirit. She received her nursing training at Roper and Baker Hospitals in downtown Charleston in the 70s. Her compassion extended far beyond her profession, especially to animals of all types, but most notably her beloved cats. She never met a stray she wouldn’t feed, shelter, or consider part of the household, whether anyone else had planned it or not. She was an avid reader, but also enjoyed watching football, always pulling for her Clemson Tigers – the alma mater of her father and one of her sons. Above all else, she loved unconditionally. Her sons were her pride, and she loved both her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her kindness, humor, and open heart left an enduring mark on everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. (She was also strong willed - which is to say she was not afraid to share her opinions, whether they were popular or not). She will be deeply missed.

Christine is survived by her sister Nancy Oliver of NC, her sons, Frank Cooper (and his wife Wenda), Michael Infinger (who devoted his life to caring for Christine for many years), and Shawn Deery (and his wife Erin), all of SC, her grand kitty, Simon, her grandchildren, Danielle Cooper and Tiffany Negrete (and her husband Enrique), and five great grandchildren – Adrian Palmer, Royce Palmer, Isaiah Palmer, Maliyah Negrete, Kashton Brown. She was predeceased in death by her husband, John J. Infinger, her sister, Patricia O’Leary, of Beaufort, her brother Roger S. Smith, of Flat Rock, NC, and her parents Thomas and Evelyn Lea Smith, both of Charleston, S.C.
