Fred A Dawson

Fred was born on November 25, 1946 in Lynchburg, VA, son of the late Fred and Katherine Dawson. He was a US Navy Veteran, graduate of Wingate College (now Wingate University) and North Carolina State College with a degree in electrical engineering. His engineering degree was used in commercial construction for 30 years beginning as a foreman working up to Senior Project Engineer. He worked with South Carolina Poston & Company, Adams Construction and 12 years with Trident Construction Company. We was well respected and known in the construction world for “doing the job right the first time”. He would be the first to ask workers, “What can I do to make your job better?”

He was an educator who worked many years through Association of General Contractors teaching Safety as a Projects Supervisor.

He is survived by his wife Susan of 49 years, leaves one daughter, Carroll (Dawson) Waugh and Chuck of Summerville and one grandson, Dawson Thomas Waugh. He was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church, former member of the Elks Charleston and volunteer for Trident Medical Center for 7 years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany UMC Youth or Alzheimer Research Group.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday December 27, 2017 at Bethany United Methodist Church in Summerville, SC at 11:00 AM, with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service.
