James Olin Hammond

He was born July 4, 1940, in Charleston, South Carolina and lived his entire life in the town he loved. He was a gifted athlete, graduated from Chicora High School in 1958, attended Clemson University and eventually graduated from The University of South Carolina.

He lived his life as an accomplished CPA in Charleston and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed tennis, running the streets of downtown Charleston, as well as loving the Charleston lifestyle, which included cheering on the Gamecocks, enjoying happy hour, and having a good laugh with friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Hammond Sr. and Mary Veno Hammond, his brother, Herbert Jr. Hammond, and his sister Carolyn Hammond.

His two sons, Timothy and Kevin Hammond mourn his loss with their families. He had five grandchildren, Mark, Lauren, Kaitlyn, Joanna and Mason, and two great grandchildren, Brees and Daisy.

Services will be held at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC on Sunday October 15, 2023. The viewing will be held at 11:00 AM, followed by a 12:00 PM Graveside Service.
