James Edward Pope

He was born on September 26, 1940 to the late Herbert Leon Pope and the late Mildred Lee Shierlock Pope Browning.

After graduating from Chicora High School in 1958, he enlisted with the United States Coast Guard and later worked for 44 years before retiring from The Post and Courier. He was a Life Master Mason of the Olde Charles Towne Lodge No 405.

He is survived in death by his loving wife of almost 62 years Geraldine Lila Pope, sons: James (Jay) Edward Pope Jr. (Emma Pope), Thomas H Pope (Karen Montgomery), Michael Todd Pope (Tonya Pope), William Travis Pope (Monica Pope), Eric Miniard. Grandchildren: Ryan Pope, Kylie Pope, Dustin Pope, Dylan Pope, Morgan Pope, Katelynn Reeder, Travis Pope Jr., Brayden Pope, Lillie Pope. Surviving siblings: Kenneth Pope (Emily Pope), (Gloria Jean Pope), Richard Pope (Debbie Pope), Theresa Browning Pritchard (Bill Pritchard). Several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his brother Thomas (Tommy) Pope.

A Visitation at Carolina Memorial Funerals & Cremation, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston for James will be held Monday, January 31, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A Llife Well Celebrated Service at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel will occur Monday, January 31, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A Burial at Carolina Memorial Gardens will occur Monday, January 31, 2022 at 3:00 PM.
