

Jeffrey George Morey, known to many as Jeff or Grandpa, of North Charleston, SC, passed away on Sunday, September 21. He was born on December 24, 1948 to the late George Morey and Marjorie Morey in Newark, NJ.
He was the loving husband of Kathleen Kelly Morey for 54 years. The two met in Turkey while serving in the United States Air Force. Their service included stations in Turkey, Nebraska, Iceland, Maryland and Charleston, SC, where he chose to retire as Master Sergeant after 25 years and entered a career in civil service. Jeff had a total service to the United States of 56 years earning the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, and numerous other medals.
During his civil service, He served as the base Information Assurance Manager who is the wing commander's authority and focal point for Information Assurance matters. Manages the communication-computer security (COMPUSEC) program, Key Management Infrastructure (KMI),TEMPEST program,and Information Assurance Programs. The Meritorious Civilian Service Medal was awarded to Mr. Jeffrey Morey on Dec 23, 2023, the date of his civil service retirement, for his distinguished performance as Wing Information Assurance Manager, 628th Communications Squadron, 628th Mission Support Group, 628th Air Base Wing, Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina, since 1993.
Jeff enjoyed many years of service with Boy Scout Troop 484-Charleston AFB, SC. Since 1989 he served in various roles and most recently the committee chairman. He also was an active member in a racquetball league on base that he enjoyed beyond retirement. In his role as Grandpa he enjoyed watching his sons and grandchildren coach and play soccer, band, and all their activities. He was always there to cheer them on, and they were one of the many joys of his life.
Jeff will be fondly remembered by his wife, Kathleen Kelly Morey; his sons: Steven (Meredith) Morey and Robert (Michelle) Morey; his grandchildren: Justin Morey (Katherine Burns), Lily Morey, Alania Morey,Katelyn Lingle,Tyler Lingle,Tillman Strehle, and Caroline Strehle.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025 from 10:00am-11:00am with the service to immediately follow at 11am at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Ave, North Charleston in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens with US Air Force Honors.
