Joe Neal Filbeck

Neal was born on October 19, 1947, to Joseph Filbeck and Krena Thweatt in Dearborn Michigan. He graduated from South Marshall, Benton, KY and studied Liberal Arts at Wayne State University, MI.

Neal served in Army during the Vietnam War (November 1966) and retired from Detroit Diesel on July 1995 after 30 years of service

Surviving are, two sons Jimmy and wife Bonnie and Lonnie and wife Lori; one daughter, Susan Elrod; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Neal is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Neal was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris Filbeck; daughter, Tammy Block; son-in-law, Perry Elrod; two great-granddaughters, Dylan Kulik and Faith Kulik as well as three sisters.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Carolina Memorial Park, Funerals & Cremation located at 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406. 843-797-2222. Neal’s funeral service will follow immediately in the chapel Interment will be at Carolina Memorial Park.
