Jane was born on November 26, 1931, in Hanau, Germany, daughter of the late Kristoph Stern and Hermine Hagenau Stern.
She was married to the late Robert “Bob” Jesse McGee, Jr. Jane and Bob met while he was in the Air Force serving in Germany. Jane was a purchasing agent for Dunlop Tires in Hanau at the time. After marrying and moving to the United States, she became a housewife and volunteer for many organizations. She was active with Messiah Lutheran Church in Hanahan, the Charleston Scottish Society, Cub Scout and Boy Scouts Troops in Hanahan as well as a volunteer for the Charleston Air Force Base Family Services and Dispensary for over 15 years, where she was recognized several times as a volunteer or of the year and received a Presidential commendation from President George Bush Sr. For the last 15 years, Jane “volunteered” as bookkeeper for Iron Knight Trailers in Hanahan. Jane is probably most known for her kindness to everyone around her, taking younger folks under her wing and being referred to as Mother McGee. Her favorite saying was that no matter what’s going on, every day we just need to, “Let the Sun Shine In”.
She is survived by her son, Sonny Werner McGee, and daughter, Janet Elizabeth McGee Howe (Rusty), and three grandchildren, Mariah McGee, Cody Howe and Jesse Howe.
