

He was born on July 15, 1948, in Middlesboro, KY to Jesse and Edna (Ealy) Sturdivant.
Ed proudly served 37 years in the U. S. Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He was a Purple Heart recipient. His greatest joy was caring for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an active member of the Bethesda Church of God in Sumter, SC.
He is preceded in death by his father, mother and son-in-law, Larry Wyatt.
Ed is survived by his wife Patricia Sims Sturdivant of 53 years; his two children: Larry Sturdivant (Lind) and Jennifer Wyatt; one sister, Opal Elaine Lovette; 6 grandchildren: Tiffany Ambrose (J. R.), Leslie Brown (Timothy), Jacob Sturdivant, 2nd Lt. Justin Wyatt, Hannah Davis (Mitchell), Rachel Wyatt (Preston Lee, fiancé); 4 great grandchildren: Landon Brown, Lylah Brown, A. J. Ambrose and Lola Brown. Also, many other family and friends who will cherish his memory.
Through the years Ed enjoyed doing things for others. He taught CPR and first aid for several years at continuing education classes. He enjoyed woodworking and everything outdoors. He is a member of the Purple Heart local chapter. He will be deeply and fondly remembered.
Special thanks and appreciation to White Oak Manor of Charleston and Lutheran Hospice for their dedicated assistance and attentive care in the past month. A special heartfelt thank you is extended to the staff on the Ashley Hall wing of White Oak Manor.
There will be a Visitation from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday January 13, 2025 at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406.
The Funeral Service will be held on January 14, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the Chapel at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. Entombment will follow the funeral service at 3:00 pm, with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Bethesda Church of God building fund; Bethesda choir fund, 2730 Broad Street, Sumter, SC 29150; Lutheran Hospice, 1885 Riffle Range Road, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464.
The service will be livestreamed through Carolina Memorial website.
