Mrs. Lilla S. Brogdon

Mrs. Lilla S. Brogdon, aged 90, of North Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023. She was born on November 23,1932, in Kerrville, Texas, to her parents Helen A. Smith (nee Morris) and Johnnie M. Smith Sr.

Ms. Lilla is survived by her three sons: James E. Brogdon Sr (Eloise), Jerry M. Brogdon, and Gary Brogdon (Fran); her brother, Hovey Smith; her ten grandchildren, Bruce Thompson (Shannon), James E. Brogdon Jr. (Kristen), Nick Thompson, Shanna M. Brogdon, Roy R. House, Heather Wilkinson, Jerry M. Brogdon II, Jesse P. Brogdon, Chasen H. Brogdon (Brianna), and Jessie W. Brogdon (Kristel); her nineteen great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ms. Lilla was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Brogdon Jr; her father, Johnnie M. Smith Sr; her mother, Helen A. Smith (nee Morris); her sister, Gracie McCall; and her brother, Johnnie M. Smith Jr; and her daughter-in-law, Sheila Y. Brogdon.

Ms. Lilla's warm and loving personality touched everyone she met. She dedicated much of her life as a housewife, raising her children and grandchildren with love and care. Ms. Lilla was also a nurse for a few years, during which time she took great pride in her work.

Ms. Lilla cherished her church and church family, volunteering within the community and spreading joy and positivity wherever she went.

A celebration of Ms. Lilla's life will be held at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. She will be laid to rest thereafter at Carolina Memorial Gardens, located at 7113 Rivers Ave, South Carolina 29406.
