Lola Patton
April 15, 1933 — March 21, 2026
Lola Patton, age 92, of Summerville, SC, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, with her son, Thomas Patton, by her side.
Lola was born in Ft. Crook, Nebraska, to the late Colonel Lee and Celia Jane Halsey. A 1951 graduate of South High School in Omaha, she married the love of her life, Jim Patton, on February 15, 1953. As Jim’s career with the railroad took the family across the Midwest—with stops in Nebraska, Indiana, Kansas, Iowa, and Ohio—Lola was the heart of the home, expertly managing every move and creating a warm environment for her four children. Once her children were grown, Lola began a successful career in restaurant management, most notably at her favorite establishment, Timko’s in Toledo, Ohio.
An exceptional cook and baker, Lola’s holiday meals and desserts were the centerpiece of family gatherings. She was an avid traveler who explored the country from the beaches of Ocean City and Daytona to the scenic cliffs of Big Sur. A cherished highlight of her travels was a joint anniversary trip to Hawaii, where she and Jim celebrated 50 years of marriage alongside her sister Virginia and husband Charles, who were celebrating their 55th.
In retirement, Lola and Jim enjoyed coastal life in Daytona Beach, where their grandchildren loved visiting, playing cards and enjoying the beach together. Lola and Jim were active members of Southminster Presbyterian Church of Daytona Beach. They later settled in Moore, SC, finding a vibrant community at Reidville Road Methodist Church. Lola remained a dedicated volunteer and member of the church even after Jim’s passing. For the last three years, she lived with her son Thomas in Summerville, where she continued to enjoy visits from loved ones and recently spent a joyful Christmas with friends and family in Toledo.
Lola was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jim Patton, and her siblings, Stanley Halsey, Donald Halsey, and Virginia Dixon.
She is survived by her children: Holly Rittenhouse (John) of Oakland, CA; Cary Swan of West Palm Beach, FL and her granddaughter Christina Ramirez of Culver City, CA, ; Daniel Patton (Jackie) of Toledo, OH and their 2 children, 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; and Thomas Patton of Summerville, SC. and a community of dear friends and family.
