Mrs. Nina Ruth Stoudenmire Parks

Nina was born in Sanford, Florida, a daughter of the late Charles Stoudenmire and Frances Eggart Stoudenmire.

Nina was a devoted homemaker but also worked as a switchboard operator, an administrative assistant, a childcare worker, a Volunteer Missionary for the Southern Baptist Convention, and a poll worker in almost every election her daughters can remember. Her career was God, family and community.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as a devoted follower of Christ and committed community activist. Nina also was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Goose Creek where she attended and volunteered for 45 years as a women’s Bible Study teacher, Director of Vacation Bible School, nursery worker and teacher for the sunshine class. She sang in the church choir and in the Silver threads. She was creative and exhibited this through her sewing, knitting, crocheting and needlework. Her love for reading and learning was inspirational. She had the best sense of humor and could make anyone smile. She went on several mission trips with the Southern Baptist Convention with her husband, Harold Parks, to Africa, Romania, and Brazil.

Nina is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harold Parks and resident of the Veteran’s Victory House in Walterboro, SC, three daughters, Nina (Mark) Taylor, of New York City, Stacie (Keith) Story, of Charleston, SC, and Ruby (Todd) Carswell, of Simpsonville, SC and nine grandchildren; Zachary (Robin) Story, Landon Story, Adam (Lauryn) Story, all of Charleston, SC, Emily (Parker) Thorton, of Lexington, SC, Taylor Silvey, of Wilmington, NC, Caleb Silvey, and Hannah Silvey, of Simpsonville, SC, Zoe Grace Taylor, and Nina Frances Taylor, of New York City, a sister Ruby Crayden, of LaGrange, GA, and her brother, Charlie (Sandy) Stoudenmire, of Marietta, GA.

The family invites all relatives and friends of Nina Park to her funeral service on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 12:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Ave. in North Charleston. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park’s Veteran Valor section as Harold served in the U.S. Navy for 24 years.
