

She was born on November 19, 1933 in Bishop, WV to parents Thomas and Audra Burnette, and attended local schools.
Norma married the love of her life, Joseph A. Norman, in 1953 and they began a 48 year marriage filled with many adventures and many moves, eventually settling in Charleston in 1990. She worked in Communications for over 30 years, retiring from C&P Telephone, now known as Verizon.
She was a long-time member of Cokesbury UMC, where she served many years on the Altar Guild Committee, was a past Historian of the United Methodist Women, and served in various other positions over the years. She loved to travel, grew beautiful flowers, volunteered as an usher at the Dockstreet Theatre, where she loved meeting new people. She was fiercely independent had a giggle that would tickle your heart. In September, 2020, she moved to Summerville Estates and loved her third floor apartment, which she named “the treehouse.” She will be missed by so many.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Charlotte Taylor.
Cherishing her memory, she leaves behind a sister-in-law, Mary B. Norman, a niece, Wendy Huneycutt Smith (Mark), both of Summerville; two nieces Theresa Scott and Rita Hurst, a great niece Megan Wright, all of Virginia, and several additional extended family members.
A Graveside Service will be held Friday February 18, 2022 at 11:00am at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her name to Cokesbury UMC or Water Missions International.
The family will be forever grateful to the staff of Vistelan Healthcare and Regency Hospice. Their expert and loving care was truly a blessing.
