

Paul S. Gyurcsanszky passed away at the age of 75 at Roper St. Francis Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina with his family by his side. Paul was born in Budapest, Hungary to Paul Gyurcsanszky and Anna M. Gyurcsanszky.
Paul married the love of his life, Joan C. Pollack on May 26, 1973. Joan developed ovarian cancer and passed away on March 31, 2008. Paul grew up in Sharon, PA and surrounding cities. He, his wife and son moved to Essex, Maryland in 1982 and then to Dundalk, Maryland in 1984, In 1985, they moved to Woodbridge, Virginia. In 2018, Paul moved to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. By moving to South Carolina, he fulfilled one of his dreams to be near the ocean. He always loved the seas, ocean breezes, boating and fishing. His family regrets that he was never able to fulfill his dream of having all of us in his family go on a boating excursion together. He attended and graduated from Farrell High School. Upon graduation, he attended Edinboro State College in Farrell, PA. Paul began working while he was still in high school. He worked at Warehouse Sales and McDonalds. While in college, he worked at Malleable Steel. After college, he worked at Westinghouse and then at Purdee Chevrolet.
For many years, Paul and his wife Joan, worked together installing commercial and residential custom window treatments. He also sold insurance policies for the Independent Order of Foresters (I.O.F.). After moving to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, he worked for The Post and Courier delivering newspapers and then worked as a security guard for Sunstates Security at the Dunes West gated community.
Paul was a member of Holy Trinity R.C. Hungarian Church in Farrell, PA., and he received his religious education at the seminary of St. Francis of Assisi in Andover, Massachusetts. Paul was a devout Catholic with a tremendous amount of faith in God. He was passionate in his Catholic upbringing and teaching religious education brought him joy, peace and love. As such, Paul was a volunteer religious education teacher at Holy Trinity Church in Farrell, PA and after moving to Virginia, he taught religious education at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Holy Roman Catholic Church in Fredericksburg, VA. Paul was also a member of the Legion of Mary.
Paul is survived by his son, Paul B. Gyurcsanszky, three younger sisters, Aniko Noel, Judy Carpenter (Kelly), and Linda Gyurcsanszky (Thomas Foreman) and his sister-in-law Loretta Lapcevich. Paul leaves behind his nieces and nephews, Kelly Anne Kelsey (Mike), their children Gunner and Colt, Raymond Noel, Kyle Carpenter (Hannah), Brooke Sheffield, her son Bradley and Aaron Sheffield and several cousins, nephews and nieces.
Paul’s mother, father and wife Joan C. Pollack predeceased him.
A memorial service will be held at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA at 12 noon on Saturday, June 14.
