

Richard Westmore, age 82, entered into eternal rest peacefully at his home with his wife and two daughters by his side on Sunday, August 31st, after a two year courageous battle with carcinoid tumor. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Friday, Sept. 5th, from 5-7:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Park (7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC) and Mass of Christian burial on Sat., Sept. 6th at 11:00 am at St. Theresa of the Little Flower Catholic Church (11001 Dorchester Road, Summerville, SC). There will be a reception following at the Clubhouse at the Villas at Charleston Park (8800 Dorchester Road, North Charleston, SC). The family is accepting flowers to be sent to Carolina Memorial Park or donations to: St. Theresa Catholic Church. Richard was born in Sheboygan, WI, on January 30th, 1932. He graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in mechanical engineering. Was in the Army Medical Corps in Germany during the Korean War. He was employed at several large companies (Evanrud Motors, Schlitz and Miller breweries, Faygo Beverages) but was later happily self-employed as a consulting engineer, performing energy studies for the city of Milwaukee, WI. He was an avid reader . . . it was difficult to find a non-fiction book he hadn’t read. He was a life-long learner and enjoyed exploring new things. He enjoyed using his engineering skills to help anyone fix a mechanical problem. He also enjoyed sailing, owning a 30 foot Catalina sail boat on Lake Michigan while living in Milwaukee.His greatest passion was his large extended family and he loved planning family reunions with his geographically dispersed children and their families. After retiring in 2008 he and his wife relocated to North Charleston,SC to be close to family and warm ocean breezes. Richard is survived by his wife of 42 years, Pamela (Snavely) Westmore; daughters Mary (Mark) Kerrigan of LaCrosse, WI; Kathy (Jim) Roger of Lilburn, GA; Diane (Greg) Bowen of Lilburn, GA; Anne (Mike) Bare of Bloomington, IL; and Angela Westmore of Milwaukee, WI. Sons Stephen Revelle of San Antonio, TX and Jon Westmore of Tucson, AZ. Sister Delores Westmore of Wilsonville, OR. Also very proud to be survived by 18 grandchildren and one great granddaughter (with a second great grandchild due in the spring of 2015!); plus many other friends and relatives. He is preceded in death, by his father Louis O. Westmore, mother Vera (Anhalt) Westmore, first spouse Irene Mary (Gundrum) Westmore, sister Susan (Westmore) Stright, son Richard Westmore, and granddaughter Sara Kerrigan.
