

Robert Richard “Dick” Songer, 68, of N Charleston, SC passed away on April 27, 2015 at his home surrounded by his wife & children, after his 3 year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 1, at 2:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home (7113 Rivers Ave, N Charleston). Reception with the family will be held one hour prior. He is survived by his wife, Vickie, of 46 years, a daughter, Karen Songer and son Andy Songer, 6 grandchildren, 3 honorary grandchildren, Seth, Griffin, Kirsten, Haley, Kaitlyn, Landon, Bryce, Emma, and Harper. 1 sister, Mary Williams & 2 brothers Tommy and Clifford Songer. He was born August 21, 1946 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Clifford & Ethel Songer, also of North Charleston. He served in the US Navy before retiring from the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He then spent many years working at Sam’s Club and he was an active member of Charleston Calvary Church of the Nazarene. He loved to fish, play softball, & watch his favorite sports teams (Gamecocks, Panthers, Atlanta Braves, & any sport his grandchildren were playing). What he enjoyed most was spending time with his family and grandchildren.
