I was told many years ago that if you have a friendship that continues from your youth throughout your life, you are very fortunate.  Ron was that friend for me.  We met at Gardner Webb Jr. College and went on to graduate together from Texas A&M, Corpus Christi, TX.  We remained best friends over 50+ years.  We created many memories on the golf course, hiking, etc.  I always considered Ron and his family a part of my family.  He was my best friend and I will miss him.

I have only known Ron several years, having met him through our common interest in pickleball. He had a great sense of humor, a ready laugh , and was fun to be around. I will miss him and wish his family great solace in knowing that he was liked by all.

Please accept my deepest condolences.  My heart goes out to the Hyder family, whom have lost a dear father, husband and son.

Ron and I were Business Associates and Friends.  He was always professional and  very dependable.  Over a period of 30 years ,  I called Ron numerous times for advice, he was like a big brother to me , he will surely be missed.  I wish Patty and Chris strength during this trying time .  Ron will be missed .

Our extended family has experienced a significant loss with your passing. I am proud that we shared a lineage that included our fathers being brothers, and our mothers being sisters. You were more a brother than a cousin, and our childhood experiences in Hendersonville and Huntington will never be forgotten. I especially express my condolences to your wife Patricia, son Chris, brother Brian, and your mother, my Aunt "Tot."

Ron was my next door neighbor.  We often went bird watching together.  He installed a wood duck  box near the canal in back of his house and would sometimes have two or three broods per year.  Ron and I also played pickleball and, being a former tennis player, Ron was excellent at pickleball.  We often had lunch together at various restaurants around Charleston.   The Tomato Shed Cafe was our favorite.  Ron was always upbeat, smiling and joking about something.   My wife, Eleanor, and I will miss him very much.

A proud father/son moment right before Dad's health had started on the decline. He gave me his old 1983 Volvo 240 that had been deteriorating in the driveway for years. I told him I'd fix it up and get it back on the road so he could drive it again. After a lot of time and money it was road worthy again. I found out there was going to be a European car show out at the Isle of Palms one weekend. Got her all cleaned up and invited Dad out to the event. We end up placing in the top 25. I think that really brought Dad a lot of joy to see his old pride and joy once again gain the respect it once did.
