

Vernon started his journey on December 21, 1939 in Batesburg, South Carolina.
He was the owner of Berkeley Gulf Service Station and Wrecker Service in Hanahan
SC for 20 years.
He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Edith Black for over 68 years. He loved his Family, unconditionally and was known to his seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and many others as “Daddy Black”.
His Smile was a smile that would brighten any room that he walked into.
He has a daughter, Bonnie Ashley, son-in-law Gene, a son Michael Black and daughter-in-law Sheila, and daughter-in-law Susan Black.
He was proceeded in death by his loving son, John Vernon Black and parents
Frontis Vernon Black, Cleo Hall Fallow and stepfather Robert Grady Fallow.
He was a member of New Covenant Church of God in Summerville, South Carolina and was a faithful member and worker for many years. In his retirement years, He loved to travel with his Camper in tow then later by motorhome. He visited every state at least once and Alaska many times. He also traveled to Mexico, South America, Hawaii, England and Canada. If there was a trip being planned, he was right there ready to go!
Vernon had a love for westerns, especially Gun-smoke and was a collector of John Wayne, memorabilia, NASCAR and Hess Trucks.
He will be truly be missed, but his legacy will live own!
Go rest high on that Heavenly Mountain!
A Visitation will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at New Covenant Church of God, 304 S. Pine Street, Summerville, SC 29483. The Memorial Service will follow from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The burial will follow at 3:00 pm Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406.
