

Wallace A. Daponte of James Island known to many as “Grandpa Wally”, 81, husband of Joyce C Daponte, passed away Monday, October 24, 2016. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace A. Daponte are invited to attend his graveside service, 10:00 am, Friday, October 28, 2016 at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary St. Beaufort, SC 29902. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00pm, Thursday evening October 27, 2016 at Carolina Memorial 7113 Rivers Ave, North Charleston, SC 29406. Please sign his guestbook at carolinamemorial.com. Wallace was born in Providence, Rhode Island on September 16, 1935. He was the son of the late Mary and Anthony Daponte. Wallace was a proud retired veteran serving in both the United States Navy and United States Air Force. He was a loving, kindhearted man devoted to his family and caring for his wife after she took ill. Some of his favorite things besides spending time with family were fishing, complaining about the Atlanta Braves, high school football games, and eating out. He and his wife shared 58 years together and he was a devoted husband even when his life got tough with Joyce’s illness. Wallace is survived by his wife of 58 years, his children, Georgia Van Nice (Kenny) of Hanahan, SC, Robbin Hair (David) of Brandeton, FL and Adam Daponte (Kim) of Columbus, Georgia, grandchildren, Paul Hair (Sarah)of Bradenton Fl, Kelly Banerian (Allen) of Goose Creek, Stefan Hair, Katy Price(John Mark) of Hanahan , Scott Hair, Holly Hair, Anthony Daponte, Angelina Daponte, and great-grandson Jacob William Banerian, sister Brenda Lopes(Charles) of Chepachet Rhode Island and many nieces and nephews he thought the world of. The family would like to extend thanks to the EMS works on James Island, Roper Emergency staff, SICU staff, and 6th Floor of Roper.
